Manila Touchdown

I have just gone to Manila last week and how fun it was.  My courier delivered my plane ticket the day after my flight.  Thus, I had to make a 10-hour drive from Legaspi City to Manila to drop by the office and additional 2 hour drive from Manila to Bulacan to see my folks and siblings.

Nevertheless, that 10-hour drive was an exciting experience.  Luckily, I was with a former colleague–a close one–in the course of the trip.  though our trip trough rough roads [the roads were like planted with mines] lavishly covered my car with a thick blanket of dust, though the drive was lengthy, and the trip a bit exhausting, driving by the cliffs, mountains, and volcano spewing smoke was fantastic.

And I will be back to Manila again.  This Saturday will be a trip that I hope will be on a plane–only if I can reserve a seat immediately.  The trip going back to Legaspi is sure already.  However, since my company ordered me to book my flight from Legaspi to Manila to avoid predicaments of tardy courier delivery, I simply hope I can get a ticket without hassles.

Manila here I come–again.

Manila: the Land of the Rising Smog!

As of the moment, I will be attending a mock business review session in Alabang July 22.  Accordingly, I am schedule to fly to Manila 0830 a day before.

How joyful I was! I feel my grin growing and my head pulsating with such excitement.  I could not help but see Manila face to face, though a bit blurry due to a toxic mixture of fog and smoke.  I see myself laughing with my friends, dining with former colleagues, and watching TV with my family once more.

Manila, here I come!

Bicol Express

I have had my Honda grown dusty and haggard for several days in the garage due to a barely thriving, ultra-battered battery.  Dust thicker than ashfall powdered the exterior.  Tires ever-gray scream for clean-up.  Knowing that it will exhaust all my energy pushing and the fast-slowing time in rural Bicol, I gave up my chances starting this car.

Great thing it was meeting people with innate generosity and kindness.  They somehow excite time and make the clock beat faster.  I was on a meeting yesterday when I was offered a free ride by two Bicolano brothers, both coordinators in an agency in Bicol.  I got a free ride, an interesting discussion about the political upheaval in Manila, and an offer to tour myself for the coming weeks for free.

Early this morning I texted them for help.  I need to jumpstart the car, and having them come over to give me a push is extremely needed.  In a few minutes, there were a bunch of guys waiting outside my unit ready to haul that Honda out of the garage.  Gratitude overflowed.

They even went an extra mile–literally.  We had our convoy to the car fix-it shop.  They waited; tey offered a free ride back, and; they reminded me that in case of emergency, they are ready to come.

Now there goes the Bicol Express.
