Easy to Steal

“A broken heart is easy to steal”–Taiwanese film Formula 17

Last Friday night was a heavy night for me. I was supposed to have a date at Philippine Fashion Weekearly evening only to find out that I would wind up alone. I was expectant to have a wonderful night with my date but when I called I was told that my date would most probably hang out with friends at the Basement. My happiness was stolen.

I then went with my friend to the Philippine Fashion Week. I went ahead inside and stood as I watched the program reel along. Prior to this, I had to wait alone and had gotten my patience drip dry. My date called to ask why I had not answered the prior calls. I gave cold replies. I was feeling the pain slowly pinching its way to my heart. I was stripped off my patience. We had a cold war.

Later that night, I decided to drown my loneliness away in the beat of trance bass and thumps. A wild dance I did to the spectacle of clubbers. The dance was hypnotic they think. Yet, it was a momentary therapy for me, as I try to shrug off half-a-year of joy. There was an inside pleading scream: Snatch this feeling away from me!

My dance gave a temporary relief. As I thump on the dance floor, a group of very familiar faces on television introduced themselves and eventually danced with me. It was a welcome greeting for a swollenly bleeding heart. Dancing with this fine group snatched away the gloom I tried to shake off that whole night. The excitement masked the loneliness and pain.

Yet, the coming days gave a lingering hurt. This problem is hard to resolve. I want someone to snatch this ill feeling away. Snatch it and run away fast. My heart is open for the robbing. Take the pain away. Now that my guard is down, I lay my heart in the open to anybody who can heal it. My heart is easy to steal.
