Bought a Kotler Cheap
I have recently found books in Cavite for a cheap price.
I have been plying the lengthy Aguinaldo Highway going to Metro Manila when I felt pangs of hunger due to exhaustive driving. I pulled over and went across a Pan de Manila bakeshop and promptly bought bread to fill in the hunger. As I gobbled my favorite Pan de Coco, my eyes darted to a tarpaulin sign pointing to a small alley.
This alley was very narrow like an abutment from the building though it was not. I peered from outside and found piles of pocketbooks from foot to waist guarded by hardcovers shelved wall to wall.
My curiosity grew as I entered this small cave. To my astonishment, this cave was laden with such wonderful treasures: Hardbound books of Stephen King, Agatha Christie, Dean Koontz greeted me on my left; children’s books laid before me on the table; marketing books and case studies waited at the back. The lady was at the corner near the entrance. Her countenance I could not see. Her head was bowed so low on the Sudoku book she was answering.
At any rate, I inspected books here and there, taking around half an hour checking for useful titles and those that tickle my interest. Serendipity does occur as I found a hardbound copy of Philip Kotler’s Marketing Management for Php120 only! It was a second-hand eighth edition, but still usable. I was thrilled! I found gold!
I fairly remember Kotler from books I read at the Business Administration library at the University of the Philippines. Though my course was Broadcast Communication, my advertising electives made way for my frequent visits to the BA library. I had borrowed his book over and over alongside my books in TV and radio broadcasting case studies. In fact, this heavy book tore my backpack and gave me a great deal of exercise.
Simply put, his book was my Bible for marketing and getting it for 120 bucks is amazing!
